My "Everything Shower" Routine: How I Recharge Each Sunday
All of the high-maintenance things I do on the weekend to stay low-maintenance during the week. Plus, a peek at our Sunday schedule as a family of four.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the term “everything shower” by now. Essentially, it’s a long, luxurious shower where you do all the things: exfoliate, shave, deep condition your hair, and more. Many girls say you gotta hydrate before hopping in the shower…it takes that long!
I first came across the idea in early 2024, and since then, I’ve incorporated an “everything shower” into my Sunday routine. It’s become a little ritual that not only pampers me, but also makes my weekend afternoons feel extra special!
A Typical Sunday Morning/Afternoon In Our House
Here’s a glimpse into how Sundays usually unfold for us:
6:30 AM: The house is up (whether we like it or not!).
9:00 AM: Family trip to the gym. The kids head to “Kidtown,” our gym’s childcare, where they get to play with friends while we work out.
11:00 AM: Lunch at the gym’s restaurant.
12:00 PM: Rory has tennis lessons.
12:30 PM: Ellis attends swim class.
1:00 PM: The kids get showered in the family locker room, put on their cozy pajamas, and are ready for the rest of the day.
1:30 PM: Nap time! Ellis naps, Finn naps, Rory enjoys quiet time in her room - and that’s when I jump into my everything shower!
My “Everything Shower” Routine
Once the house settles down, it’s me time. I head to our bathroom, start the shower, and set the mood with a eucalyptus steamer. It fills the space with the most soothing scent - instant spa vibes!
Here’s my step-by-step process:
Hair Care
I alternate between this shampoo for a deep clean and purple toning shampoo to maintain my blonde.
I apply a restorative hair mask to the mid-lengths and ends, letting it absorb while I move on to other tasks.
Exfoliate & Shave
I use my favorite body scrub to exfoliate and leave my skin silky smooth.
I shave using this razor and shaving cream, making sure every detail is covered. I’m not gonna lie, I don’t shave much during the week (especially during winter), so this is my day to do it!
Cleanse
I rinse out the hair mask and use this body wash for a final cleanse.
Wrap It Up
After stepping out, I wrap my hair in this towel and throw on this cozy robe.
Post Shower Routine
With damp skin, I layer on body lotion. I am the kind of person who has to have lotion on immediatley. Lately, I’ve been loving this body serum, but I’m curious - has anyone tried this body retinol? Let me know!
Here’s the rest of my routine:
Hair: I spray in this detangler and leave-in conditioner before brushing my hair.
Brows: I tweeze stray hairs and trim with eyebrow scissors to keep my brows looking their best.
Face: Using this magnifying mirror, I dermaplane with these razors - so easy, and I’ve never had issues with cuts. (No, the hair doesn’t grow back thicker or darker!) I follow up with a gentle cleanser, thick moisturizer, lip mask, and deodorant.
De-Puff: Sometimes, I’ll add eye masks under my eyes for an extra pick-me-up.
Teeth: If I have time, I whiten my teeth. I had my dentist make me trays about ten years ago and I get whitening gel from the dentist every six months. If I do this for 15 minutes a few times a month, my teeth stay looking white!
Weekly Self-Care Additions
Mouth Guard & Jewelry Cleaning: I give my mouth guard a deep clean with my ultrasonic cleaner and freshen up my jewelry using this cleaning solution. It’s a game-changer for keeping everything sparkling! Put a splash of this cleaner into the water when doing your jewelry to make it extra sparkly.
Nails: I remove old polish with this remover, then buff and file before applying nail concealer in “Bubble” with a top coat for a long-lasting finish.
Hair TLC: Once a week (usually a random weeknight), I massage rosemary oil into my scalp, dampen my ends, and apply this hair mask before sleeping in a silk bonnet. It’s been amazing for my hair health! In the morning, I wash my hair well.
Feet: For in-between pedicure upkeep, I use glycolic acid and heel repair cream, followed by socks for extra hydration.
Face Exfoliation: About once a month, and when my skin is feeling super dry, I do this Vitamin C peel from Philosophy. It’s a two-step peel that makes my skin extra glowy.
The Rest Of Our Sunday
By 3 PM, the house starts to stir. I slip into cozy clothes and spend the rest of the day playing or doing puzzles with the kids while Finn cooks dinner. We eat around 5:30 PM, prep the kids’ schoolbags, and wind down for bedtime.
Thanks to my “everything shower,” my skin feels refreshed, my hair is hydrated, and I’m ready to take on the week ahead!
I’d love to hear - do you set aside time each week for a little self-care? It’s been such a wonderful way to slow down and show myself some love. Let me know your routine in the comments!
xo,
Casey
I love the idea of grouping all of those self-care tasks together! I will often forget many of those things (hello, cracked heels) for weeks at a time and then try to squeeze them in during the busy week. I’m going to try an everything shower this weekend!
Love this! Do you have a morning routine as well?
